On November 3, Team Foundling will take to the streets for the TCS New York City Marathon! The world’s largest marathon, the race will include over 50,000 athletes who will complete a 26.2-mile route through all five boroughs of New York City.
I currently teach and coach, and I want to continue to give back. Providing for underprivileged communities is my focus. I am very excited to be joining such a great foundation & team!
I am from Long Island, New York. I recently heard about The New York Foundling through a friend, and when I found out they had spots in the NYC marathon, I was so excited to sign up. I’m honored to have the opportunity to represent The Foundling and fundraise for a group that helps people (especially the youth) exceed expectations and grow to their full potential.
What a treat it is to be able to run with the New York Foundling! I’m a social worker in the New York/New Jersey area, working with teens and adults in a therapeutic setting. Outside of work, I enjoy cooking, traveling, reading and of course, running. Choosing to run for The Foundling was an easy decision. The mission of the organization aligns so well with my vision for social justice and equity. Being able to contribute to promoting the health and wellness of New York families feels part and parcel to my social work values and desires for a better world. What better way to do that, than to run the NYC Marathon? I want to be able to inspire others to get involved in a meaningful way.
The New York Foundling plays a pivotal role in NYC, providing mental health and other supportive services to low-income families, youth in foster care, people with disabilities, and beyond. For the past 3 years, I have worked for an organization that serves young people who have recently aged out of foster care. The Foundling has benefitted so many of my clients, from tutoring and financial support for college students, to affordable housing for former foster youth facing housing instability. It’s an honor to fundraise for The New York Foundling in the 2024 NYC Marathon and I hope you will consider donating to this incredible organization.
My name is James Hurt, and I am thrilled to be running the 2024 New York City Marathon representing The New York Foundling. This marathon is not just a personal challenge for me, but also a platform to raise awareness and funds for The Foundling’s life-changing programs. I am a proud NY native having grown up on Long Island and graduated from Columbia University. I now reside in Huntington, NY, with my wonderful wife, Tori, whose love and support have been a constant source of inspiration throughout the years and, most recently, during training. Having been introduced to The Foundling through a family member, I’ve witnessed firsthand the profound impact of their work on the community. Now, as my wife and I welcome our first child into the world, the significance of The Foundling’s mission resonates with me even more. The Foundling’s dedication to helping children overcome life’s obstacles is not just admirable but essential. I’m grateful to have seen its positive influence firsthand and am blessed to have the opportunity to support such an amazing organization.
I was born and raised in my beloved New York City. I witnessed firsthand the disparities in how economics played a role in healthcare, education, housing, and supportive services. It is an honor for me to run in the 2024 New York City Marathon for Team Foundling. Funds raised will go towards tutoring programs, free medical visits, supporting those transitioning from the foster care system, crime prevention programs, and more.
I am deeply inspired by the mission and impact of The New York Foundling. Their unwavering commitment to providing essential services, support, and advocacy to those in need aligns perfectly with my own values and aspirations. By running a marathon in support of The New York Foundling, I aim to contribute to their incredible work in helping children, youth, adults, and families reach their full potential. Together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of individuals and communities, fostering a stronger, more compassionate society. Join me in supporting The New York Foundling and let’s create a brighter future for those who need it most.
I was born and raised in New York and now reside in Maryland with my husband, children and mom. I ran my first half-marathon in Central Park, NY in 2009 and I haven’t stop running since. I have been fortunate to run various races over the years. My last competitive race was the Baltimore Road Runners Club Marathon 2017. It is an honor for me to return home to run in the 2024 New York City Marathon for Team Foundling.
The funds raised for Team Foundling will go towards free medical visits, supporting individuals transitioning from the foster care system, adults with developmental disabilities, tutoring initiatives, and educational programs that eliminate barriers and open the door to opportunity (which is dear to my heart as an educator) and much more!
As a former Foundling employee I am excited to further support the mission! I am honored to be a part of Team Foundling and raise critical funds for the life changing programs that The Foundling offers. I feel lucky to have spent time working at The Foundling and look forward to giving back some of the kindness the community has shown me. Marathon Day is one of the best days in the city and I can’t wait to be a part of it again! Go Team Foundling!
I am extremely excited to be running my first ever marathon as a part of Team Foundling! I am a third generation New Yorker and initially learned of New York Foundling through my mother, who was a volunteer for NYF in the 60’s. I am incredibly inspired by the mission of the organization and am honored to be able to contribute towards making a difference in lives of people in my community. As an employee of a children’s non-profit, I am uncompromising in my belief that every child deserves an equal chance to succeed. I look forward to engaging in the New York Foundling community as I take each step towards 26.2 miles.
