Workshop Description:

Grief is a trigger. The loss of a loved one can send families reeling — loss of income, decrease in parental/guardian support, and the upending of everyday routines and family traditions. In some cases, the death of a loved one drives families into an unanticipated downward spiral, with increases in destructive behavior, including violence and drug dependency. One of the best ways to combat this fallout is to acknowledge loss directly and take steps to keep the memory of loved ones alive. The need to be proactive, this frequently overlooked step, is critical for resolving grief and is essential for a child’s life to move forward.

Join Allison Gilbert, bestselling author of the groundbreaking Passed and Present: Keeping Memories of Loved Ones Alive, as she leads an essential discussion about why remembering loved ones is so important to a child’s emotional growth and well-being. This must-attend event is free for New York Foundling staff and our partners.
