During The Foundling’s information session on becoming a foster parent, we will talk about the responsibilities involved, licensing requirements, and the paperwork needed for the application. Becoming a foster parent is one of the most rewarding ways to make a difference in our community. Staff will be on site to answer questions and talk through any topics you would like to learn more about.

Due to COVID-19, all Orientation/Information sessions are being held online, using ZOOM. (If you don’t know how to log on to a ZOOM meeting, we’ll teach you!)

George M. Johnson Flyer

The New York Foundling’s internal Deconstructing Racism and Pride Committee affinity groups have planned an online event featuring author and activist George M. Johnson.

George is the author of the New York Times bestselling memoir All Boys Aren’t Blue, which discusses their adolescence growing up as a young Black Queer person in New Jersey through a series of powerful essays.  Their second memoir, We Are Not Broken, was released last September.  They have also been awarded the Salute to Excellence Award by the National Association of Black Journalists, named one of The Root’s 100 Most Influential African Americans in 2020, and were listed in The Out 100 Most Influential LGBTQ People in 2021.

This free virtual event will touch on the many ways hip-hop can be used to engage with patients. Family physicians, mental health clinicians, and anyone with an interest in supporting youth will learn effective strategies for communication and engagement.

This event is presented in collaboration between the New York Council on Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (NYCCAP) and The New York Foundling’s Mental Health DEI and Pride subcommittee, along with The Foundling’s Vincent J. Fontana Center for Child Protection.

Potential Certification/Credits: Attendees can obtain a certificate to add to resume/CV. Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) are available upon request from the New York Foundling’s Vincent J. Fontana Center for Child Protection. Continuing Medical Education credits are also available on request, as this activity was approved for a maximum of 5 AAFP Prescribed credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

On June 4, 2022 from 1-5pm, The New York Foundling’s SFC Center and Home for Integrated Behavioral Health are collaborating on a creative experience for all community members. Art Sanctuary: Healing Hearts, One Paintbrush at a Time will be a space for healing and building community using creative outlets of expression. We will have a variety of arts ands crafts for children and adults of all ages to use and express themselves however they see fit. Throughout the event there will be raffles for a variety of prizes, one of them being a new bike! We will have refreshments and goodie bags available to attendees as well.

This event is FREE and open to EVERYONE.

In our upcoming virtual Indeed job fairs, learn about the benefits of joining our family – including our meaningful advancement opportunities, which provide the support and resources to learn, explore, and grow professionally.

Our field-based BSFT therapists work with young people and families in our KEYS and Improving Family Systems programs. Using the evidence-based Brief Strategic Family Therapy (BSFT) model, therapists  help them overcome their challenges and reach their full potential.

Our field-based MST therapists work with young people and families in our FAST, KEYS, and REACH programs. Using the evidence-based Multisystemic Therapy (MST) model, therapists help them overcome their challenges and reach their full potential.

Since 1970, the TCS New York City Marathon – the world’s largest marathon – has been a source of inspiration for runners around the globe. On November 6, 2022, over 50,000 athletes will once again take to the streets for a 26.2-mile route through all five boroughs of New York City. While the lottery for general admission to the race is now closed, The Foundling still has spots available for dedicated runners.
