During The Foundling’s information session on becoming a foster parent, we will talk about the responsibilities involved, licensing requirements, and the paperwork needed for the application. Becoming a foster parent is one of the most rewarding ways to make a difference in our community. Staff will be on site to answer questions and talk through any topics you would like to learn more about.

Due to COVID-19, all Orientation/Information sessions are being held online, using ZOOM. (If you don’t know how to log on to a ZOOM meeting, we’ll teach you!)

To sign up, contact Luis Rosado, Foster Family Recruiter at Luis.Rosado@NYFoundling.org  or 646-574-2001.

For any additional questions, call The Foundling’s recruitment team at 888.847.2838.

Hosted by The Foundling’s Junior Board, our 2nd Annual Walk-a-Thon allows you to join a community of Foundling supporters as we walk to raise funds for our vital programs.

Proceeds from the walk-a-thon directly support programs that allow the children, adults, and families we serve to overcome their challenges – including job instability, academic struggles, and persistent mental health needs. Our evidence-based and research-backed programs keep families together, prevent child abuse and neglect, help individuals with developmental disabilities live their best lives, and provide academic support for young people.

Our fundraising goal is to raise $65,000 by walking at least 5 kilometers (6,250 steps) on Saturday, September 24. We’ve created a fundraising platform that allows you to build your own personal fundraising page where your friends, family, neighbors, and colleagues can make online donations.

This incredible evening, hosted by The Foundling’s Junior Board, will offer guests an opportunity to enjoy the finest craft cocktails and food of New York City, while recognizing the impact we can each make in the lives of young people in foster care.  While the Blue Party has traditionally been held in May to honor National Foster Care Month, the event will be held in September this year to respect current health and safety guidance. Though the season may be different, The Blue Party will remain a premier event for those committed to helping support young people through and beyond foster care.

The New York Foundling is committed to providing a safe, meaningful, and fun event for our supporters. We are taking many precautions to safeguard everyone from exposure to the COVID-19 virus and its different strains. All event staff and volunteers will wear face masks, and we are working with the Bowery Hotel to ensure adequate ventilation and outdoor space for our guests.

Additionally, to comply with the guidelines recently enacted in New York City, we kindly ask all event attendees to present documentation of their COVID vaccination card prior to the event.

On behalf of The New York Foundling, thank you for your incredible support and commitment to our organization and mission. Like many of you, we anticipate that the challenges related to the coronavirus will last for a long time, even if the social isolation rules are relaxed in the coming months. The Foundling and our Junior Board has made the difficult decision to cancel The Blue Party this year. Our main priority is keeping our entire community safe and we are confident that hosting the event this year isn’t the right decision in this situation.

The need to support our most at-risk and underserved community members is greater now than ever before. Although The Blue Party is canceled, donations continue to be critical to support The Foundling’s thousands of clients. If you would like to support The Foundling’s COVID-19 Emergency Fund please visit: https://www.nyfoundling.org/covid/.

Your support has and will continue to play a vital role in ensuring the sustainability of The Foundling – and we are incredibly grateful.  As we move beyond this crisis, we will be in touch with updates on next year’s Blue Party and The Foundling’s recovery efforts.  If you have any questions, please email events@NYFoundling.org or call 212-206-4122.  Thank you for your support.
