Foundling: The Story of the New York Foundling Hospital
by Martin Gottlieb, Claire Yaffa (Photographer)
Written by New York Times writer Martin Gottlieb, with stirring portraits by famed photographer Claire Yaffa, this book is for all who wish to learn more about our esteemed institution. Through compelling black-and-white photography and informative, engaging text, this stunning book chronicles the evolution of The New York Foundling. The book portrays our humble beginnings in 1869, when Sr. Mary Irene Fitzgibbon and the Sisters of Charity placed a bassinet on the doorstep of their brownstone to accept foundlings and, taking the reader through the years, arrives at the beginning of the 21st century, as we continue to evolve to meet the needs of the most vulnerable.
A limited number of sealed copies of this hardcover book are available directly from The Foundling. The cost of each book is $60, including shipping. All proceeds from the sales of the book will support the programs vital to The Foundling’s legacy. To order, please call our Development Office at 212-886-4043.
