Daycare and Head Start Services
Family Day Care/ Seton Day Care
Keeping Families Together in the Community
The New York Foundling's family-based day care program was the first of its kind in New York City. We oversee
more than 400 children in programs operating out of homes that each care for two to six children. Along with
Seton Day Care and Preschool, a Montessori-based facility serving 75 children, these services strive to ease
the stresses of parental responsibilities by providing a nurturing and convenient daytime environment for
children. Supervisors and day care providers complete rigorous safety and child-care training programs and
are licensed only after intensive background checks. Seton Day Care's Head Teachers are State-Certified.
Head Start
A National Model for Other Agencies
In 1973, The Foundling established a Head Start
preschool program in Puerto Rico to serve the
island's isolated, rural areas and low-income urban
neighborhoods. Now used as a model for other
agencies, this program offers parents job training
and, whenever possible, employment. Many
parents who begin working as assistant teachers
in our program go on to receive academic
credentials as fully certified teachers.
